Softening/Professional rounding of all sharp edges on the frame and handle (not the blade obviously) to look and feel like a Ramon Chaves Custom Knife--check out the pictures to see for yourself. Professional darkened/stonewashed and tumbled finish on blade, handle and frame.

The end result is an Ultramar 229 that would easily be mistaken for a 228 mid-tech or Chaves Custom, looks and feels like a dead ringer for a 228! The Ultramar 229 is the follow-up to the Chaves Ultramar Redencion Street.

The 229 is slightly larger than the Ultramar Redencion and sized more similarly to Ramon's mid-tech CAMK 228 and his full custom knives. I have pictured this Custom Modded 229 in between an Ultramar Redencion Street and a Chaves American Made Knives 228 Mid-Tech for you to see (and understand) the difference in size, look and feel between these knives. Check out my detailed high resolutions photos. The other knives are shown to demonstrate differences in size between the models.

This is a pre-owned Knife. I took this knife in trade towards a watch from a collector who rarely if ever carried or used this knife. Knife comes with original Chaves Ultramar 2-Piece foam fitted presentation box. This box has very slight wear on the corners (see pics). There is an original Chaves sticker on one side showing this knife began life as an Ultramar 229 Tanto Belt Satin.

The opposite side of the box has an original SKU Stocking sticker. I will also include an original Chaves Microfiber hankie (brand new and sealed) with this knife.
