For sale is a Johann "JD" Van Deventer EDC model front flipper. The knife is a framelock with a stonewashed titanium lock side, but the presentation side is G10 with a tamboti wood inlay, and the transition between the wood inlay and the G10 is seamless. Van Deventer, like many of the other South Africans, is a master craftsman. The blade is N690-- a standard for the South Africans-- but it pivots on phosphor-bronze washers rather than bearings, and yes, it's still very smooth. The blade is 2.9 with a gentle stonewash and satin polished flats.
Because of the construction, the knife is very light, weighing 2.2 ounces, and is very ergonomic. I have carried the knife once, and done no real cutting with it. Flaws: the obvious one is that it is tip-down only. Sorry, JD, I'm not with you on this.
Other than that, it is hard for me to tell with my eye, but I think the blade very slightly favors the lock side rather than being perfectly centered. Look for yourself in Image 7. It isn't anywhere near the lock bar, and I haven't bothered trying to adjust anything. I believe in full disclosure though, so if I think I see a potential problem, I point it out.
