The El Patron folder is stout, sophisticated and smart. Every part of the El Patron is fabricated by Jeremy Robertson to the tightest of tolerances and highest of standards.
It is a go-anywhere hardcore tool. The Blade: Classic drop point with a wide thumb hole cutout for ease of opening even with a glove on. Thick, convex ground CTS-XHP premium steel has been stone-washed. Convex grinds and edges are hand-done by Jeremy Robertson for a tougher, sharper-longer edge.
A convex edge is also easy to maintain and restore with a quick strop. This 3.25 rides on caged bearings for smooth deployment every time. The Handle: Two thick slabs of titanium with a tumbled finish provide the strength of the El Patron.
The front slab features Jeremy's new checkered texturing which adds grip. All the edges are smoothed out and refined for a comfortable feel. A cutout on the front is smoothed out and allows access to the frame lock bar for closing.
It also makes a nice spot for your finger(s) to grip when open. Jeremy's lockbar has an extended steel insert that doubles as over travel protection and solid lock up. About CTS-XHP: An alloy steel made by Carpenter, CTS-XHP was developed as a corrosion resistant D2 alternative. Research shows users estimating edge retention slightly ahead of S30V, and toughness comparable to D2.
