The blade is noticeably thinner than a standard DDC and I haven't seen him use this blade stock before. I believe this is a one-off build. The front is satin finished Mokuti. Mokuti is only used on special-occasion builds by Duane. He does not offer it normally.
Duane Dwyer founded Strider Knives along with Mick Strider and the BBN-M is his evolution of the Strider SnG. It is slimmer and less blocky but still retains the tough-as-nails DNA of the SnG. Duane was also the main knifemaker that worked to bring SM-100 to the knife industry. SM-100 or HIPTiNite was originally developed literally by NASA to be used as the material for ball bearings in space.
It's a titanium and nickel alloy that effectively becomes heat-treatable titanium. A standard titanium blade cannot hold an edge so usually, makers rely on carbides to allow for longer term cutting. That results in a "sandy" edge. SM-100 being heat-treatable, holds an edge like a standard steel would but with extra, unique features not found anywhere else. It is non-magnetic, completely corrosion-proof, and it retains the "memory" that titanium has so it will keep an edge in extreme cases better than steel.
It is a rare and difficult material to work with but Duane was the one who brought it into the knife market. You are getting the best SM-100 blade possible.
